MAGSR Males Available for Adoption
Apollo
Apollo and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Apollo's owner loved him greatly but struggled to keep him safe and in the household. As a result, Apollo spent too much time wandering about the neighborhood and checking in with the neighbors. Unfortunately, this resulted in too many trips to animal control. Due to his frequent visits, Animal Control decided that Apollo would be safer if he moved forward with a new family.
Apollo is a big, sweet guy. Although it is clear that he has not had a lot of structure prior to his arrival, he is a quick learner and seems to prefer a calm yet confident handler. Apollo has lived with a couple of cats and has done well with them. He seems unaffected by their presence and is calm with them around. Having met a variety of dogs in his travels, Apollo has made it clear that he can live peacefully with another dog. However, he is not a big fan of high-energy dogs who get in his face. We can't blame him for setting his boundaries. Apollo is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the guidance and routine that will help him thrive. He will benefit greatly from training with his new family. This will not only help him bond to his new family but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. If your household is looking for a big, laid back guy, ask to meet Apollo today!
Update:Apollo continues to be a laid back and affectionate guest. As you can tell by the shot of him on my bed he is one LARGE bed warmer but space can be at a premium. He enjoys several walks a day and averages between two and three miles, which may account for his being laid back most of the day. As the weather has gotten cooler he tends to spend less time lounging in the back yard and more time on his day bed or on the rug. He now beats me to bed, but does give me room to get in! He is almost like a GSD in that he will follow you from room to room and as the other shot shows, he will put his head up on the corner of your chair to make sure you know he is there. Other than occasionally getting a little testy with oncoming strange dogs while on walks, he takes correction well and we are working on it. He is just a good buddy and has made a boatload of friends around the neighborhood.
Beta
Beta and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Handsome Beta is an intelligent and active guy. He has been adored by his families, but due to circumstances beyond his control, this boy has bounced around more often than we would hope. Recognizing that Beta deserved a home that would understand his breed and his needs, his most recent owner decided it would be best if he was placed with a breed specific rescue. So, when she could no longer provide Beta with the kind of home that she knew he deserved, she reached out to MAGSR for help. Our team knew that Beta was the right match for the rescue and welcomed him to the family. We promised that we would find this guy an incredible forever family that would love him for a lifetime.
Beta is in many ways your typical GSD teenager. He takes in the world around him, loves to keep his nose busy, and doesn't miss a beat. Having bounced around a bit, Beta likes to take a minute to adjust to new people and new environments. However, with a tasty treat he warms up quickly. Beta enjoys a bone to gnaw on and will happily smile and wait for something special. Having participated in some basic training, Beta knows a few commands, but will benefit from training. Not only will training help Beta create a healthy and lasting bond with his forever family, it will also help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen. Having lived in a household, Beta understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. He is already housebroken and he adores his crate. Structure, routine, and leadership go a long way with this guy. Typical of young shepherds, Beta has a lot of energy and will require a family that can address his needs for exercise, training, and stimulation on a daily basis. A smart guy, Beta picks up new concepts quickly. However, as is true with many young dogs he can get distracted and needs to learn to stay on point. Beta is looking for a forever family that has the time, energy, and patience to help him grow up into a stable and confident adult. If this amazing guy is the right match for your family, ask to meet him today.
Chapo
Chapo and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Charming Chapo was picked up by another rescue last year in the Spring. The rescue that pulled him knew that this handsome guy was in desperate need of rescue support. Although they didn't have many options for him, they knew that if they kept him safe, they would be able to find a breed specific rescue that would be able to help Chapo move forward safely. Fortunately, they were able to provide Chapo with temporary placement where he thrived. Knowing that Chapo was a great dog but wasn't in the right situation to move forward, inquiries were sent out so that Chapo could transfer to a rescue with more options. When MAGSR had a few openings at the beginning of the year, our team stepped forward to offer this handsome guy the opportunity to find an incredible match that will love him for a lifetime.
Chapo is a handsome boy with some good energy. A gentle soul, this boy is friendly but a little hesitant with new people and new situations. Having moved about so many times already, this sweetheart will need some time to decompress and settle into his forever home knowing that he will never need to look for a family again. True of the breed, Chapo will be most successful in an environment where structure, routine, and leadership are present. This will help him adjust to his forever home and develop the confidence he needs to meet with success. Training will go a long way with Chapo. He already knows several commands. However, continued training is critical as it will not only help Chapo create a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. It is highly evident that Chapo was socialized with people and other animals along his journey. However, we do not have any information about his life prior to his arrival in rescue. This boy is looking for time, patience, and a soft landing with the right family. Could that family be you?
Forest & Jenny
Forest & Jenny and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Forest (3 yrs) and Jenny (2 yrs) were lucky to have grown up in a loving home that had planned to love them for a lifetime. Forest joined the family as a baby and Jenny joined a little later when another family in the area needed to rehome her. Like "peas and carrots" these two developed a special bond over time and became inseparable. Relying on one another for companionship, a playmate, and a good snuggle, Jenny and Forest simply bring out the best in one another. Unfortunately, things simply don't always work out the way we planned. When circumstances changed unexpectedly in their home, it became clear that it was in both dogs best interest to be rehomed. This is never an easy decision; it is often one of the hardest choices a family must make. However, their family knew this was what was best for both dogs. When asked if we could help Forest and Jenny move forward into a loving home that would last a lifetime, team MAGSR stepped forward.
Forest is a big, confident guy. He takes in the world around him and is a stabilizing force. More playful and outgoing than his sister, this guy will fill his forever home with endless antics. Jenny is a more timid and hesitant girl. She likes a little time to adjust to her surroundings. However, when given a chance to decompress, Jenny is friendly, sweet, and an amazing companion. Together Jenny and Forest make an incredible team. They enjoy daily activities together and prefer to be close most of the time. As is true of all dogs, Forest and Jenny are looking for a family that will provide them with structure, routine, and leadership. This will help them thrive. Already crate trained, both dogs are hoping for a forever family that will build upon their strengths and give them the chance to learn the ins and outs of living in a household. They can't wait to enjoy roaming about their forever home staying close to their people. Training will go a long way for both Jenny and Forest. Not only will training help them create a strong and healthy bond with their forever family, but it will also help them develop the skills needed to become good canine citizens.
Forest and Jenny are looking for a special household that has room for two. If this bonded pair sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet them today!
Jason
Jason and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Jovial Jason was picked up as a stray in the south. When he arrived at a shelter, it was discovered that he had a large, open wound on his back leg. As this shelter, like so many others, was sitting above capacity, once Jason's stray hold was completed, he was placed on the list to be euthanized. This handsome guy was incredibly lucky as he was pulled at the last minute by another rescue. Although they knew that Jason would need to be transferred to another rescue, this group knew that Jason deserved every opportunity to move forward safely.
Jason was fortunate to have been in a foster home for a few months before moving into the MAGSR family. During this time he was able to begin receiving the medical support needed to start the healing process. With debris cleaned out of his leg, medication provided, and six weeks of rehab in place, Jason's leg healed nicely allowing him to return to regular activities and playtime. Having endless opportunities to socialize with other large dogs, Jason greatly enjoys play time. He has an active and enthusiastic play style. However, we have learned that he gets a little too excited about cats and farm animals. He will not be placed in a home with these creatures. Having lived in a home, Jason has begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. As is true of all dogs, Jason will need time to adjust to the expectations, structure, and routines of his forever family. With time, patience, and leadership, we know he will succeed. As Jason moves forward, training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Jason create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Jason is heartworm positive. This prognosis could have been prevented if Jason has been provided with monthly preventatives. Although heartworm treatment is expensive, MAGSR knows that Jason is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Jason's treatment. Not only will your donation help Jason get the care he needs, but it will also help us welcome other dogs with medical needs. Jason's treatment has already begun and he is more than half-way finished! He will need to take it easy over the next month or so as he finishes up. Jason is an amazing guy that is hoping to find a family that will love him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
Update:Jovial Jason has been living with a foster while undergoing heartworm treatment. He loves to play, chew his toys, and rolls right over for a belly rub. He’s an energetic love-bug and no-doubt looking forward to being free of heartworms. Jason is very enthusiastic and will need a family committed to exercising him both mentally and physically.
Update:
After being with his foster for a while, he's adjusting to home life very well and, with his energy, responds well to structure in the home. He's now obedience-trained and crate-trained. Similarly to his prior update, his foster family has discovered more things he loves: walks, food, squirrel-watching, going in the car, and so many other things! He loves belly rubs and belly rubs and belly rubs! Even though it's already been said, it's worth mentioning that this guy really loves belly rubs! Even though he's not a cat guy, Jason definitely loves to meet people and he's been doing great as one of our MAGSR ambassadors at events. He wants to meet you too!
Mini Cooper
Mini Cooper and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Sometimes when it seems like everything is going wrong, the world shifts, the stars align, and things start improving. This situation reflects Mini Cooper's journey. This handsome guy was noticed as a local stray by an experienced group of rescuers. Lost, confused, and hungry, Mini Cooper wasn't sure if the people who had noticed him were there to help or to hurt him. So, he remained aloof and watched from a safe distance. Recognizing that this boy needed help and fast, particularly with the cold weather we have been experiencing, his finders worked together to safely trap Mini Cooper. Once safe, they brought him to a local shelter where he waited patiently for his family to come and claim him. Although Mini Cooper took this time to decompress and begin recognizing that most people are kind, no one stepped forward for this guy. As numbers are at critical levels at many shelters, once his stray hold ended, Mini Cooper was added to the list to be euthanized. Knowing this boy deserved a chance at a loving home, the same finders who originally rescued Mini Cooper reached out to MAGSR for help. How could we possibly say no to such a good boy?
Mini Cooper is a sweet guy, young, and engaging guy. Wiggly with his people, this guy is happy to be safe and in a loving foster home. He is happily lapping up as much attention as possible from his handlers. Having been through so much over the last month, Mini Cooper is hoping for some consistency as he moves forward. He will thrive in a home with structure, routine, and leadership. We know he cannot wait to be in a forever home of his very own. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about Mini Cooper's past, but we do know his future is bright. Living in a household may be a new, but very welcome adventure for Mini Cooper. He is hoping for a family that will be patient while he adjusts to the routines and expectations of the household. Training will go a long way with this handsome boy. Not only will training help Mini Cooper develop a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Mini Cooper is looking for a loving household that will fill his days with adventures and his night with cuddles. This boy deserves a home that will cherish him for a lifetime. Could that home be with you?
Rico
Rico and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Grab your tissues for this heartwarming story of selflessness and love—a true Christmas Miracle.
While visiting Mexico, an amazing couple encountered a man caring for a pack of homeless dogs. When the couple asked this man what they could do to help him, he begged them to save a puppy in dire need. The pup was injured and the man worried that this baby would not survive without help and fast. That puppy was Rico, who had been brutally beaten with a metal pipe. Unsure what to do at first, they approached Rico who was lying in the bushes nearby. Although clearly in severe pain, Rico managed to greet his visitors with gentle kisses and sorrowful eyes. Knowing they couldn’t leave Rico to die in the streets, this couple made the selfless decision to step and do everything they could to save him.
Recognizing that time was of the essence, the couple found a veterinary hospital where they learned he had broken hips and severe internal organ damage. Additionally, Rico had been shot with pellets remaining near his vertebrae—a surgery too risky to undergo without more advanced surgical options. Despite these injuries, the couple knew that this boy deserved every opportunity to live. So, they began working with the medical team at the veterinary hospital to provide Rico with the care he needed to move forward. After tests, blood draws, vaccines, a neuter, an FHO, and physical therapy had been completed, it appeared that Rico was on the mend. However, concerns about continued kidney inflammation began to worry Rico's veterinary team. Unfortunately, they did not have the resources or expertise to do more. Recognizing that Rico needed more advanced care that could be found in the United States, the couple began pleading with the rescue community for help. Although they contacted endless numbers of rescues, with numbers at critical levels in most places, they struggled to find placement. Knowing that Rico needed additional help as soon as possible, they continued their search. When our team learned that Rico needed placement, we knew he was meant to be a MASGR dog. We welcomed Rico the family and promised him that we would help him get the care he needed to move forward.
Over the last month, Rico our incredible team has been working with Rico to get him the help he needs to move forward safely. Living in an incredible foster home, Rico is being doted on daily. He loves his foster family both human and canine, particularly his foster mom. An absolute sweetheart, Rico is gentle, loving, and a total cuddle bug. He is the definition of a velcro dog and will happily fall asleep in the arms of his foster mom. As Rico has needed significant medical support, our team has been slowly moving from one need to the next guided by our phenomenal vetting partners. Needing rounds of antibiotics, surgical intervention, and recovery time, Rico has been a star patient. He seems to know that our team is doing everything we can to ensure that he meets with success. Rico is currently recovering from his first surgery, but will need another in the near future. The cost of his care is very expensive. Please consider donating to Rico's medical needs. Your donation will not only help us continue to support Rico along his healing journey, but it will also help us continue to welcome dogs with medical needs.
When he is ready for adoption, Rico will be looking for a patient family that will give him time to adjust to the routines and expectations of the household. He hopes that they will have plenty of cozy beds and will fill his days with endless snuggles. We will provide updates as Rico's journey continues.
Rocky
Rocky and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Rocky and his buddy, Misty, were adopted from MAGSR a few years ago by an amazing family. They were cherished beyond words and have known the power of love. Sometimes life throws a curveball and things change in an instant. When an unexpected circumstance arose, their family knew that Rocky and Misty needed a safe place to land. So, they contacted MAGSR. Knowing these dogs were lucky to have an incredible family that would do anything for them including giving them up, we immediately welcomed both Rocky and Misty back to the MAGSR family.
Rocky is a big, sweet, loving boy. Social, affectionate, and always ready for a good lean in, when Rocky loves you, he loves you with his whole heart. An alpha by nature, this honey leads with a calm and confident nature. He knows exactly who he is and has a stable personality. Having lived in a phenomenal home, Rocky appreciates the joy of a soft, warm bed, endless toys, and daily interactions. Crate trained, housebroken, and comfortable with the daily activities of a household, this boy understands the expectations of living in a home. However, as is true of any new dog, Rocky will need time to adjust to the expectations, rules, and routines of his new family. A smart guy, Rocky already knows several commands. He enjoys daily walks and is happy to hang out with his people outside. Although he has some training on board, Rocky will benefit from attending training with his new family. Not only will training help Rocky develop a strong and healthy bond with his family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Handsome Rocky is looking for a forever family that has plenty of toys, treats, and snuggles. If your family is looking for a calm, confident, and playful guy who will fill your home with love, ask to meet Rocky today.
Shep
Shep and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Stunning Shep was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a local animal control. Upon arrival, it was highly evident that this boy needed medical attention as soon as possible. With a severe ear infection and raw, painful paws, and underweight Shep was incredibly uncomfortable and in need of help. Fortunately, the right people heard about Shep's situation and began working with rescue groups to find a temp foster and rescue placement. When asked if we could provide Shep with a rescue option, team MAGSR knew that Shep would make an incredible addition to the family. With an amazing foster family in place, we welcomed this handsome boy to the MAGSR family.
Recognizing that Shep needed medical support right away, we worked with several groups to ensure he had what he needed. Shep had his medical needs addressed and was placed in a loving home to recuperate. Seeming to understand that this was his chance to decompress and let the healing process happen, Shep took some time to relax and get healthy again. Once he started feeling better, we were able to move him to one of our experienced foster homes where Shep had the chance to start acting like a dog again. An active guy with a high ball drive, Shep's all-time favorite activities involve balls. He will happily chase and mouth a ball for hours. In fact, it seems that he is hoping that his forever family has an affinity for throwing as, in his mind, humans are meant to be his personal throwing machine. Still learning the finer points of playing, Shep still needs some time to further decompress and learn the ins and outs of appropriate play. This guy is looking for an active family that will provide the structure, routine, and expectations needed to meet the needs of a headstrong shepherd. He would likely be happiest with a job, like nosework, or an activity, like treibball. With a little refinement, Shep would likely excel at Rally or flyball! Living in a foster home, Shep is learning the ins and outs of living in a home. He is learning to crate train and housebreak. He is also learning about the general routines and expectations of living in a GSD savvy home. However, he will need time and patience to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. As is true of all dogs, training will be key to Shep's success. Not only will training help Shep build a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Shep is your typical teenage shepherd seeking attention and a good time. If you are looking for an intelligent, fun-loving, active shepherd, Shep could be the guy for you!
Shotsy
Shotsy and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Some dogs seem to go through more pain, hardship, and loss than we could fathom. If they could share their stories, people would be beyond surprised at how affectionate and charismatic so many of these dogs remain after having endured so much. Shotsy is one of those dogs. He is a true survivor. No one knows exactly what Shotsy went through prior to his arrival at animal control. We do know that people were not always kind to this big guy. Picked up as a stray, Shotsy was brought to an animal shelter that was sitting at critical capacity. The minute he walked in the door, he was in grave danger. With limited resources, extreme overcrowding, and a wealth of new sights, smells, and sounds, Shotsy was overwhelmed and wasn't showing well in the shelter environment. As a result, when his stray hold ended, Shotsy was moved to the list to be euthanized. At the last second, an incredible couple pulled Shotsy hoping to help him move forward.
Recognizing that this senior boy needed some medical and social support, the couple got Shotsy everything he needed to meet with success. He had all of his medical needs addressed and even had a dental completed. He also had the chance to work with a trainer and start developing his manners. In addition, Shotsy had the opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of living in a loving home with comfortable places to sleep and regular meals. Although the couple adored Shotsy, they knew that he needed a different type of household in order to meet with success. So, they made the decision to reach out to rescues for help to ensure that Shotsy could move forward safely with breed specific knowledge to support his success.
Shotsy is a handsome and intelligent boy. He, like so many GSDs, reads the handler very well, quickly determining what he can and cannot get away with. With a calm, confident, and controlled handler, Shotsy shines. He adjusts well to clear rules, structure, and boundaries; however, like any typical GSD, he will try to take advantage of the situation if the opportunity presents itself. As a dominant male, Shotsy is happy to take on the role of alpha if given the opportunity. Already knowing several commands, Shotsy likes to work and appreciates having high expectations. Although this guy has had some training already, continued training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Shotsy develop a balanced and healthy relationship with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. A playful guy at heart, Shotsy is hoping that his forever family has plenty of toys. Toys that squeak and balls are some of his favorites. A handler with a good throwing arm sounds like a perfect match to Shotsy. When playtime is over each day, his perfect evening involves a good meal, a brushing, and a belly rub before bed.
Shotsy is looking for a loving, patient, and structured family that will cherish him throughout his golden years. If this stunning guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Siber
Siber and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Siber was originally part of the Molly's Hogwarts litter a couple years ago. These babies and their mommy, Molly, were confiscated from a cruelty and neglect situation. Fortunately, MAGSR was able to place the family in foster homes so that they could find incredible families that would love them for a lifetime. Siber was adopted as a puppy and has lived with a family for the past two years. Recognizing the importance of providing him with rules and boundaries, Siber's family made sure that he learned the ins and outs of living in a household and gave him opportunities to meet with success through training. Although they adopted Siber with the intent to provide him with a forever family, sometimes things do not work out the way we planned. When Siber's family could no longer provide him with the daily routines, exercise, and care he needed to meet with success, they contacted MAGSR knowing we would find him an incredible home.
Siber is a stunning guy. Tall, lanky, and intelligent, this boy has typical young GSD energy and is not a couch potato. With high ball drive and a love for playing fetch, Siber is looking for a forever family that is happy to keep their throwing arm in good shape. As an active guy, Siber will need a family that will exercise both his body and his mind on a daily basis. This will help him develop the stability and confidence all GSDs need to meet with success. Having recently moved out of what he considered his forever home, Siber is currently a little lost. Our volunteers are working with him to help him move forward. He does best when given some time and patience to adjust to new people and situations. Continued socialization in controlled settings with new people and new environments is key to his success. Siber is looking for a forever home that will provide him with structure, routine, patience, and leadership that all GSDs need. He is hoping that an experienced GSD household will provide him with the tools needed for success. Food and toy motivated, Siber knows his perfect family is just waiting to meet him. Could Siber be the match for you?
